They are used in Le Fort I, II and III procedures. After the maxillary separation from the Pterygoid process retractors are used alternately on both sides to rotate and advance the maxilla or half face, to break or end the last resistance of the bone or scar tissue.
The particular curvature of the thin leaves allows its passage under the zygomatic bone.
